Eastern Accord 2012 wraps up

ARUSHA, Tanzania – Eastern Accord 2012 wrapped up the academic portion and begins the Table Top Exercise, (TTX) which is the culminating event for the Countering Violent Extremism Exercise.

The TTX provides a unique forum for participants to gain awareness of regional issues, exchange ideas and share initiatives and lessons learned. Members from the Missouri Army National Guard’s 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, based in Kansas City, Mo., will lead the TTX portion and capture the important outcomes from the exercise

“We have learned very much from our academic portion and are excited about what we will take away from the TTX,” said BG JH Samaytu, Tanzania People Defence Force, 303 Brigade Commander.

The TTX will include the Diplomatic, Information Operations/Strategic Communications, Military and Economics (DIME) elements of national power, which is a strategic approach to address strategic problems. Lt. Col. Marty Clay, of St. Louis, Mo., 110th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, (MEB), Missouri Army National Guard, deputy Operations Officer is facilitating the TTX.

“This portion of the exercise is the culminating event our end goal is to improve our participants ability to counter violent extremism in their regions and to create relationships to assist each other in the future”, Clay said.

The TTX concluded on Sep. 12. The knowledge gained from Eastern Accord 2012 will continue to enhance the relationships between the U.S. and African Nations.
